A sweet dish which is made from nutritious dry fruit, chironji. Usually consumed during festivals and offered as prashad for puja.
Ingredients
Chironji - 250 grams
Sugar - 250 grams
Water - 1/2 cup
Oil for greasing
Method
Step 1 - Heat a kadhai and roast the chironji till it turns light brown in colour.
Step 2 - Put the chironji aside and allow it to cool.
Step 3 - Heat the kadhai, add sugar & 1/2 cup water. The water should cover the sugar.
Step 4 - Cook the sugar and water mixture till you get 1.5 - 2 strands of sugar syrup (chashni).
Step 5 - Now take the kadhai off the gas and add roasted chironji to it. Mix very well.
Step 6 - Take a big plate and grease it slightly.
Step 7 - Now spread the chironji and sugar mixture evenly on the plate. You can wet your hands while doing this.
Step 8 - Allow it to rest for one hour. Cut it into pieces. If unable cut, then you can even break it into small pieces.
Step 9 - Store in an airtight container.
